Absence and Exemptions
We understand that injuries, school commitments, and other exceptional circumstances may impact player availability.
As part of the BV Performance Program, players are required to submit exemption requests as soon as they are aware of any need for travel, preferably before confirming or booking any travel plans, even when these are related to international tournament commitments, education (e.g., university/study), or professional work obligations. This ensures alignment with the performance program expectations. Players seeking an absence and exemption from training or tournaments must submit an Exemption Form for review and approval by the BV Performance Committee.
If the circumstances change closer to the tournament allowing them to take part, players may withdraw the exemption request.
Absence from weekly training
Exemption requests DO NOT need to be submitted for a one-off absence from weekly training sessions. In this case, please contact your coach and advise them that you are unable to attend training, together with the reason(s) why. Players who are unable to attend weekly training sessions for a period of more than two (2) weeks must request an exemption using the online form.
Supporting documentation for exemption
If you have any supporting documentation as part of the exemption request (e.g. a medical certificate), then please email it to performance@badmintonvic.com.au after submitting the application online.
Review and approval of exemption requests
Once the application is submitted, the BV Performance Committee (BVPC) is notified. The BVPC will process the request as soon as possible. The result of the review will be communicated to the player.
