Badminton Victoria runs six state performance squads, to select and develop talented Victorian players. Selection for teams for national events is made from our state performance squads.

Note: The Performance Program is structured to provide a clear pathway for player development, with trials for the Under-13 age group held annually in early February. Selected players from these trials are invited to join the Performance program.

For players in other age groups, nominations are welcomed and encouraged throughout the year. These are reviewed by the BVPC, with feedback provided to all nominees. In addition to trials, player identification is based on performances at sanctioned tournaments, national championships, and ongoing development assessments.

While the program is structured, we acknowledge that development can occur at different stages of a child’s growth. As such, the program remains flexible, allowing players to be added throughout the year as they demonstrate potential and meet performance criteria. This ensures all athletes have the opportunity to progress and excel.
