Dear BV Members, Coaches, Officials, Players, Parents & Guardians,
Some of you may be aware that the Badminton World Federation (BWF) has a published list on their website regarding people who have been barred for various reasons ranging from anti-doping violations to match-fixing. Badminton Victoria is aware that some of the currently barred people live in Australia including Victoria and we are asking our badminton community to check the barred list via the below link:
Some people barred by the Court of Arbitration for Sport Decisions, are not allowed to be involved with any badminton activities. This includes competing, coaching, officiating or any activities related to the development of badminton.
We would like all our affiliated member clubs, academies, associations, venues, players, parents, coaches and officials to be aware of the BWF barred list and ensure that they do not engage the services of any barred people until their bar has been completed as per the BWF statement (see above link for further info). Besides the BWF bar, it is most likely that barred people are not registered with Badminton Victoria and/or Badminton Australia, are not covered by insurance which includes child protection, and we are not able to confirm if any barred people have a valid working with children check.
Players who are part of the Badminton Victoria Senior, Junior or Para State Squad Performance Program should make sure that they do not enlist the services of any barred people in any capacity as per the published list on the BWF website. If any of our members have any questions regarding this statement, then please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
