Wonthaggi Badminton Tournament Brings Community Together

Published Fri 10 Apr 2026

The Wonthaggi Badminton community Tournament has been a great success, bringing together players and families from across the local community for a fun and engaging day of badminton. With up to 25 participants attending, the event created a welcoming and social environment, with many players bringing along family members to support and take part in the experience.

Delivered by the Wonthaggi and District Badminton Association, the tournament was part of the Regional Badminton Revitalisation Program, funded by Sport and Recreation Victoria and supported by Badminton Victoria. The purpose of the event was to provide an opportunity for community members to come together, stay active, and enjoy badminton in an inclusive and friendly setting.

Throughout the day, participants enjoyed not only the competition but also the strong sense of community. Many shared that they had made new friends and appreciated the chance to stay active and improve their health through sport. The positive atmosphere and supportive environment were key highlights of the tournament.

Feedback from participants has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their interest in returning for future events. The tournament has helped strengthen local engagement and demonstrated the growing interest in badminton within the region and has put the spotlight on the club.

Looking ahead, the Wonthaggi and District Badminton Association hopes to build on this momentum and continue to attract more people to get involved in badminton, creating more opportunities for the community to connect and stay active.

We would like to thank Kim Wong, President of the Wonthaggi District Badminton Association, and Adrian Falvey, Secretary of the club, for their efforts in successfully delivering the event and supporting the growth of badminton in the region.
