The Wonthaggi Badminton Club recently hosted an exciting badminton tournament that brought together players, families, and the local community for a day full of sport, laughter, and fun. Supported by Sports and Recreation Victoria under the Regional Revitalisation Program, the event celebrated both competition and community spirit.

The tournament featured players of all ages and skill levels competing in a series of engaging matches. Each match tested the players’ agility, precision, and strategy, giving participants a chance to challenge themselves and improve their skills in a supportive environment.
Beyond the competitive matches, the event included several fun activities to keep everyone engaged. One of the highlights was a playful game where participants aimed to shoot shuttlecocks into cardboxes, each labeled with a player’s name. The suspense and excitement built as the shuttle landed, revealing the lucky winner of a gift voucher hidden under the box. The activity brought smiles, laughter, and moments of friendly competition to players and spectators alike.
At the end of the tournament, the top four winners were celebrated with gift vouchers, recognizing their skill, dedication, and determination throughout the day. The tournament then transitioned into a relaxed and joyful pizza night, where players, families, and friends could unwind, share stories from the day, and enjoy some delicious food together.
A special thank you goes to Adrian Falvey and Kim Wong from Wonthaggi and District Badminton Association for their incredible work in organizing the event. Their dedication and attention to detail ensured a smooth, enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators. Thanks to their efforts, the Wonthaggi Badminton Tournament was not only a showcase of talent and sportsmanship but also a true community celebration full of fun, laughter, and connection.
