Badminton Victoria is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ross Smith as our new High-Performance Manager!
Ross is no stranger to the BV community. As the current Junior State Squad Head Coach, he has been instrumental in developing Victoria’s emerging badminton stars through elite training, mentoring, and performance-driven programs for our U17 and U19 athletes.
With years of experience as a respected coach and selector, Ross brings a deep understanding of what it takes to excel in high-performance sport. His leadership in the Junior State Program has already made a significant impact - and now, he’s ready to take the entire high-performance portfolio to the next level.
Ross's credentials as an athlete are equally impressive. A proud Olympian, he represented Australia in men’s doubles at both the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympic Games alongside Glenn Warfe. But his journey to the top began much earlier:
🥈 Silver medalist at the 2003 Australian Youth Olympic Festival
🏆 National Champion (first title won in 2003)
4x Commonwealth Games representative
🌏 4x Oceania Champion
🏅 Winner of 12+ international titles
Ross brings world-class experience, a passion for athlete development, and a vision to inspire the next generation of champions. We are proud to welcome him into this leadership role and confident in the future he’ll help shape for Victorian badminton.
