Badminton Victoria congratulates all Victorian para badminton players who competed in Bendigo at the VICTOR Oceania Para Badminton Championships and the YONEX Australian Para Badminton International earlier this month.
The tournaments brought together para-athletes from across the region, providing valuable experience and the opportunity to compete at an international level on home soil.
For several Victorian athletes, including Adam Georgelin, Sarah Keenahan, Remi Foster, Ashok Bondili, Caleb Logan, and Evan Milne, the Oceania Championships marked their first-ever international tournament appearance — an important milestone in their development and a reflection of the growing depth of para badminton in Victoria.
BV CEO Clint Proctor said the achievements and participation of Victorian athletes demonstrated the inclusive and community-driven nature of the sport. “It’s fantastic to see more Victorian para-athletes gaining international experience,” Proctor said. “Their effort, commitment, and sportsmanship reflect the inclusive values at the heart of badminton and the growing opportunities available across the state.”
Badminton Victoria also recognises the efforts of Ali Akhteyari, Bree Wright, Céline Vinot, Macka Mackenzie, Martyn Ford, Michael Simpkins, Mischa Ginns, and Hayden Braun, who took part in the tournaments, contributing to an inspiring week of competition in Bendigo.
BV extends its thanks to the coaches, volunteers, and families who supported the athletes and looks forward to seeing para badminton continue to grow across Victoria in the years ahead.
