Vale: Lee Lau

Published Thu 04 Dec 2025

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Lee Lau, who passed away at the age of 62.

Lee was a much-loved member of the Victorian badminton community. His commitment to the sport was evident through his contributions as a Technical Official since 2023, in addition to supporting and developing players through coaching with the Infinity Badminton Club.

His recent attendance at events included National Junior Championships in Perth (2024 and 2025), and umpiring at the Oceania Para-badminton Championships (2025). He capped off an excellent year participating in the Victorian Open as an Umpire, and was keenly preparing for assessment to upgrade his umpire level in 2026.

Those who knew Lee speak of his generosity, kindness, and unwavering passion for helping others grow in the sport he loved. His presence has touched players, officials, volunteers, and fellow coaches across Victoria.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone in the badminton community who had the privilege of working with him.

Rest in peace, Lee. You will be deeply missed.
