Player Sportlight: Lucas Khor

Published Wed 21 May 2025

Lucas Khor is one of Victoria’s rising junior players; quiet, focused, and known for putting in the work. At the 2025 Ballarat AIA Junior Circuit 5, he made it to the semi-finals in the U15 Boys Singles and finished runner-up in the U15 Boys Doubles at the State Titles. It's clear he’s building something solid, one match at a time.

But his story doesn’t start with trophies.

When I was small, my dad used to play with his friends every week, and sometimes he would take me along. The sound and feeling of hitting the shuttle made me fall in love with badminton,” says Lucas.

That simple memory, tagging along to his dad’s games, was where it all began. His parents originally just wanted him to enjoy the sport. But over time, Lucas's quiet enthusiasm turned into real dedication. Training became a routine. His skills sharpened. And soon, he was selected to represent the state, one of his proudest moments so far.

We have never seen him so dedicated to something. Badminton has taught him the value of work hard, self-discipline and never give up.” his parents proudly shared.

Now, with Lee Chong Wei as his role model, Lucas continues to pursue his badminton journey with determination and focus. Inspired by Lee’s unwavering spirit and attitude toward the sport, Lucas is steadily working toward his goals.

Lucas may still be early in his journey, but with steady effort and the support of his family, he’s shaping up to be a player to watch. Whether it’s training hard or chasing a dream, he’s learning what it takes and loving the process.

Players like Lucas are exactly why Badminton Victoria’s state performance pathway exists, to support and nurture junior talent as they grow, compete, and take their next steps in the sport.
