We are pleased to announce that international-level badminton competition is returning to Melbourne. Badminton Victoria, in partnership with Badminton Australia and Badminton Oceania, will host the YONEX Melbourne International at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre from 18–22 November, as part of the Badminton World Federation International Circuit.

The tournament will be staged as a Grade 3 Future Series event, offering USD $5,000 in prize money and expected to attract leading players from Australia, New Zealand and across the Oceania region. Entries will open soon, with tickets for finals day also to be released shortly.

Clint Proctor, CEO of Badminton Victoria, said the tournament represents an important step within the organisation’s new strategic plan and its ambition to continue growing the sport.

“Our focus is on creating more high-quality playing opportunities and delivering the best possible experiences for our Victorian athletes, while also attracting leading national and international players to compete on our courts,” Proctor said.

“The Melbourne International reflects the strong momentum behind our sport and the growing appetite to play, compete and be part of badminton’s future. We’re proud to showcase Victoria as a premier destination for badminton.”
