Badminton Victoria Community Awards: Recognising the People Powering Victorian Badminton

Each year Badminton Victoria proudly celebrates the outstanding achievements of clubs, coaches, players and volunteers across the state. Each category recognises excellence, commitment and impact within the Victorian Badminton community.

 

Award Winners:

Club of the Year - Westside Badminton Club

Westside Badminton has demonstrated strong community engagement, consistent growth and high-quality programming. They have earned this award due to their variety of junior development programs as well as innovative school holiday camps and inclusive future events such as Kid/Parent doubles tournaments. Their high tournament performances coupled with their consistent focus on skill development continues to attract players of all ages.

 


Inclusive Club of the Year - Badminton Geelong

Awarded to a club that champions accessibility and inclusion. Badminton Geelong has earned this award for creating welcoming pathways for players of all backgrounds and abilities, their dedication to adaptive programs, and actively supporting diverse community groups. Their "diversity, inclusion and vibrance" mantra has played a key role in earning them this award.

 


Volunteer of the Year - Cynthia Tam

This award acknowledges outstanding service behind the scenes. Cynthia has earned this award for her complete dedication to club operations and event support. She also serves on the Badminton Victoria Board and plays a critical role in the Badminton Victoria Tournament and Officials Committee (BVTOC), supporting planning and delivery of key events.

 

Coach of the Year Senior - Krishna Neelam

Recognising excellence in coaching senior athletes, Krishna Neelam was honoured for his technical expertise, outstanding leadership with player development and a true positive impact on high-performance pathways.

 

Coach of the Year Junior - Naman Bhardwaj

This award highlights coaches shaping the next generation. Naman Bhardwaj was recognised for his commitment to junior development, strong coaching ability and for creating supportive learning environments. As Badminton Victoria’s State Development Coach and a highly experienced performance coach (coaching over 500 players), he plays a key role in building pathways for emerging players across Victoria.

 


Most Valuable Senior Player - Male: Jinu Varghese

Jinu Varghese earned this title as he demonstrated strong performance, sportsmanship and consistency. impressed with a standout season across state events.

 

Most Valuable Senior Player Female - Dannielle McRandall

Dannielle McRandall has demonstrated her leadership, competitive excellence and contributions to senior competition throughout the year. Coming from a proud badminton family spanning four generations; From her Grandmother and Mum to Dannielle herself, and now hopefully her daughter! Her passion and outstanding season have earned her this award.

 

Most Valuable Junior Player Male - Chen Qiu

As a rising star, Chen Qiu stood out for his rapid improvement and exceptional performances at junior tournaments. As a member of the Victorian state team at the national championships, he represented the state with distinction, and his skills, effort and sportsmanship have earned him the MVP award.

 



Most Valuable Junior Player Female - Ira Acharya

As a rising star, Ira Acharya earned this MVP title for her exceptional competitive performances, dedication to training and strong growth across the season. She also competed at the individual national championships, gaining valuable experience against the country’s best juniors, and her consistent efforts and skills are recognised with this award.

 

Badminton Victoria congratulates all our award winners and nominees, and thanks every club, coach, player and volunteer for their contribution to the sport. Together, you help create a vibrant, welcoming badminton community across Victoria and inspire many to pick up a racquet and get on court.
