TheBA Foundation Coaching Course recently brought together 12 aspiring coaches at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) to build their coaching knowledge and practical skills.
As Badminton Australia’s entry-level coaching accreditation, the course provides a starting point for those looking to begin their coaching journey and develop the skills needed to support players of different ages and abilities.
Participants spent the day learning and putting their skills into practice on court, working through activities including front-court net push drills, footwork exercises and skill-based coaching tasks. The course also explored key areas such as communication, session planning and adapting activities for players with different levels of experience.
By the end of the course, participants had gained a stronger understanding of the fundamentals of badminton coaching and more confidence to take those skills into their own coaching sessions.
The BA Foundation Coaching Course is part of Badminton Victoria’s ongoing coach development opportunities, supporting more people to build their skills and get involved in coaching across Victoria.
