Badminton Victoria proudly congratulates all athletes who represented the state at the 2025 Australian National Para Badminton Championships, held from 30 May to 1 June at Altona Badminton Stadium in Melbourne.
This year, Victoria was represented by two teams: Victoria Demons and Victoria Rebels. The championships brought together para athletes from across the country in a spirited and high-level competition.

Victoria Rebels delivered a strong campaign throughout the team event and finished as Runner-Up, a commendable result that reflects their consistency, resilience, and teamwork across the weekend.
One of the standout individual honours went to Sarah Keenahan, who was awarded the Sportsperson Trophy. This award recognises an athlete who embodies leadership, fairness, teamwork, and respect both on and off the court. Sarah's presence throughout the championships was a clear example of these values in action.
The tournament also marked a significant milestone for three new players: Adam, Nott, and Ashok, who made their national debut representing Victoria. Their confident performance and growth over the weekend show great promise for the future of the sport.
“I’m so very proud of our Vic Para state players this year. Each of them played with outstanding tenacity, strength, and determination on court,” shared Abbie Rothery, Senior State Para Head Coach & Abilities Coordinator. “Victoria battled through multiple injuries in both teams and faced a very strong Western Australia side. While we experienced some tough defeats, which is not something the team has had much exposure to before. This kind of result makes for a more seasoned player long-term, and I am confident that Vic will be a tour de force again at next year's event..”
Throughout the event, players demonstrated clear progress both technically and tactically, highlighting the impact of continued investment in athlete development and training opportunities.
“We are incredibly proud of our para teams and the progress they continue to make on the national stage,” said Clint Proctor, CEO of Badminton Victoria. “This year’s championships highlighted the impressive growth of our program, as we were able to enter two teams, showing what can be achieved when talent is supported by a strong development structure.”
Badminton Victoria extends its thanks to the athletes, coaches, support staff, and families who contributed to this campaign. The growth of para badminton in Victoria continues to build momentum, and we look forward to even greater results in the future.
