Each year, Badminton Victoria recognises individuals who show excellence, growth, and sportsmanship through the Perpetual Trophy Awards. Nominated by the Badminton Victoria Performance Committee, these awards highlight outstanding dedication and leadership across the junior, senior, and Para categories.
Ern Harding Memorial Trophy – Open Award - Jacob Schueler
Presented annually to the man who returned the best performances in tournament. Jacob has been selected for the Thomas Cup and State Team at the National Championships; reached the Oceania semi-finals and claimed three Protech Elite Series titles.

Robert Bruce Maxfield Perpetual Trophy – Open Award - Gronya Somerville
Presented annually to woman who has returned the best performances in tournaments. Gronya has achieved international success and for securing the Victorian Open Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles titles.

H. Roy Brady Memorial Trophy – Open Award - Gronya Somerville
Presented annually to the player that demonstrates exceptional court demeanour & attitude. Gronya demonstrated leadership and a team-first mindset – consistently fostering a fun and inclusive environment. At the National Championships, she actively supported her teammates, embodying Victoria’s team values.

Paul Tyrrell Trophy – Junior Award - Jordan Wang
Presented annually to the most Improved Junior player of the year – boy. Jordan is a standout performer, rising from outside the BV squad in 2023 to earning selection for Badminton Australia in 2024—driven by exceptional commitment, punctuality, and dedication to his craft.

Julie McDonald Trophy – Junior Award - Alphonsa Bijomon
Presented annually to the most Improved Junior player of the year – girl. Alphonsa is emerging as one of Victoria’s top young players winning the Under 17 Girl’s Doubles Title at the Nationals along with two wins in the Junior Circuit. She impressed many at the Victorian Open by reaching the Women’s Singles final.

Sanderson Spirit Trophy – Junior Award - Kaitlyn Rodrigues
Presented annually to the junior player that demonstrates exceptional court demeanour, attitude, and team spirit. Kaitlyn is a true leader off the court, she has shown the ability to think of others first and is always willing to be a support for her teammates. Kaitlyn is always first to arrive and last to leave! She does everything to improve and be her best.

Kay Coady Trophy – Para Badminton Award - Celine Vinot
Presented annually to the para badminton player who returned the best performances in tournament. Celine has made outstanding contribution to the sport, Australian Paralympian in 2024 - has had the best result on court and in the international circuit.
