Open Victorian State Teams 2020 announced!
Updated: May 14, 2020

Updated 13th February 2020: Unfortunately, Joyce Choong and Sawan Serasinghe have withdrawn from the team. We now welcome Luke Chong and Lee-Yen Khoo to the Victoria Smashers team.
A strong group of our top shuttlers will compete for the 2020 Victoria Smashers - the Open-level Victorian State Team!
The 2020 Victoria Smashers consists of many familiar players - including previous individual national champions Luke CHONG (Mixed Doubles 2013, Men's Doubles 2013, 2014), Ashwant GOBINATHAN (Men's Singles 2015), Yingzi "Jenny" JIANG (Women's Singles 2019), Ming Chuen LIM (Men's Doubles 2019), Jacob SCHUELER (Men's Singles 2019), and Gronya SOMERVILLE (Women's Doubles 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).
New to the Victoria Smashers state team are Kaitlyn EA and Ming Chuen LIM. EA is a highly competitive junior punching far above her weight. She won the Australian Junior International in 2019 for Mixed Doubles and competed for the Victoria Strikers State Team in 2018 and 2019. LIM has been a strong contender in men's doubles and mixed doubles throughout Victorian events and won the National Title last year in Men's Doubles.
Thank you Peter Brown for once again coming aboard as the Team Manager and welcome Team Umpire Kah Seng Ong to the Victoria Smashers.
The Victoria Smashers state team will compete at the Ede Clendinnen Shield in Tasmania, February 2020 - defending their consecutive national title since 2012. Most of these players will compete individually in the Australian National Championships as well.
Congratulations to all the shuttlers and support networks involved!
