Position Vacant: Tournament & Events / Membership Services / Participation Manager


Badminton Victoria is seeking to appoint a full-time enthusiastic staff member to our operational team for 2019. Reporting to the State Director, the position is responsible for a number of key portfolios within our organisation and provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with the badminton community and Government related funding agencies.

Management Portfolios;

  • Member Services - provide quality services to affiliated members, operational staff and registered players. They are responsible for working with member affiliated organisations to develop their governance practices, event and program delivery, people development, program development and participation activities.

  • Government Funded Programs - implementation of badminton programs and initiatives as funded by Badminton Victoria or Government funding agreements with a focus to:

  • Introduce badminton to new markets

  • Encourage inclusiveness and a “participation for all” approach

  • Increasing badminton participation within Victoria

  • Link programs with affiliated clubs to further increase registered player numbers

  • Participation & Development - implementation of participation & development badminton programs as funded by Badminton Victoria with a focus to:

  • Encourage inclusiveness and a “participation for all” approach

  • Increase junior badminton participation within Victoria, specifically within Schools, Member Clubs and Venues, Local Community Groups

  • Link programs with affiliated clubs to further increase registered player numbers

  • Coaching - responsible for overseeing the development of Badminton coaching stocks in Victoria. To implement sustainable programs of excellence which aim to provide Community and Elite coaches with access to accreditation courses, coaching events and resources that will enable them to provide the best badminton experience possible for their players

  • State Team & Player Relations - responsible for all aspects of state team development and implementation acting as the link between High-Performance Players and the Badminton Victoria Office. The role will be responsible for the logistical requirements of sending state teams to national competitions and to build relationships with the 6 Regional Sports Academies and the Victorian Institute of Sport, seeking Victorian player development.

  • Tournament Management - responsible for the Tournament Management Portfolio will be responsible for overseeing and assisting with the organisation & running of Badminton Victoria events and Badminton Victoria endorsed/sanctioned tournaments.

Qualifications and Experience - Essential

  • Valid Working with Children Check

  • Current Driver's Licence

Qualifications and Experience - Preferred

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or experience in a sport/recreation discipline or associated field as per the portfolio description.

  • Demonstrated experience and thorough understanding of the operation of sport and recreation organisation.
