VOLUNTEERS WANTED - VICTOR Oceania Badminton Championships 2019 (Open and Juniors)

Badminton Victoria is pleased to host the VICTOR Oceania Badminton Championships 2019 and VICTOR Oceania Junior Badminton Championships 2019 this February at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) with Badminton Oceania and Badminton Australia!

Both the open and junior competitions will comprise of individual and team events, with players, officials and volunteers from across the Oceania region expected to participate over the period of 11-17 February 2019.

Badminton Victoria is putting a call out for volunteer assistants to help out with the following roles;

Coordinator Volunteers (working with Tournament Directors)

Transportation / Meet & Greet Coordinator

  • Assist with the meet & greet and transportation of players from Airport to Accommodation (and vice versa)

  • Vehicles provided

  • Full schedule of pick up and drop offs provided

  • Appoint assistants as required in consultation with Tournament Director

Catering Coordinator

  • Meal preparation done by MSAC catering

  • Liaise with MSAC regarding quantities of meals required for each day

  • Daily distribution of meals to rostered staff only

  • Appoint assistants as required in consultation with Tournament Director

Junior Raffle

  • Assist in the selling of online Raffle Tickets throughout the week - https://www.rafflelink.com.au/bvjcfr2019

  • Assist with the drawing of raffle and contacting the raffle winner

  • Assist with the setting up of the car presentation in MSAC foyer

  • Appoint assistants as required in consultation with Tournament Director

Rostered positions throughout the week (working with Tournament Directors / Match Control)

First Aid Officers

  • Suitably qualified First Aiders / Physios to assist with player injuries

Live Stream Assistants

  • Oversee the Live Stream Camera Feed

  • Manually input live scores throughout the matches

Data Input

  • Friday 16th, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th

  • Entering match results into tournament software

  • Printing of schedules as required by Match Control

MC / Announcer

  • Welcoming players and spectators to the event

  • Introducing players onto court

  • Trophy presentation announcements

  • Full script to be provided

Shuttlecock Control

  • Distribution of shuttles as required by referees

Player Marshalls

  • Ensuring players are ready to go on court when called upon

Court Stewards

  • Ensuring courts are cleaned before, during and after matches

Technical Officials

Line Judges

Basic knowledge of the rules of badminton is ideal to become a Line Judge. However, short training workshops will be provided where required. Persons aged 16 years old and older may apply here.


An umpire accreditation is required to be an umpire at this event. To see if you qualify, please contact the Badminton Australia Court Officials Committee (BATOC) or check out more information here.
