The Australian World Dwarf Games Team is currently competing at the 7th World Dwarf Games 2017 in Canada this week! The team features Victorian badminton players Joel Emmett, Anthony Koedyk, Renee Kosch, Luke Missen and Kat Ramos, as well as Badminton Victoria Board Member Kay Coady who is accompanying the team.
Kat Ramos won the first Gold medal of the World Dwarf Games in Badminton Women's Singles Masters Division Category 2 and did not drop a game. Luke Missen just missed out in the Quarter-Finals and defeated by the World No. 8 ranked player, but managed to pushed his opponent well on the court. Joel Emmett of Horsham went down in Round of 16. But it is a fantastic feat for an player competing in his first tournament! Renee Kosch of Wangaratta and Anthony Koedyk of Melbourne also proved their abilities on court, coming out with results that exceeded their expectations.
Special mention goes to Kobie Donovan from Queensland who played in the Final of Women's Singles Open Category 2. Melissa Doyle of the TV program Sunday Night has been following Kobie's progress for the production.
Finishing up the Badminton competition, Kat Ramos won Bronze in the Women's Doubles Open with Kobie Donovan. And Luke Missen and Joel Emmett were unfortunately knocked out by the to eventual winners of the competition to the eventual winners in the Men's Doubles.
